Get reimbursed for keeping your customers, clients, and employees safe.

As small businesses prepare for reopening in the new realities of COVID-19, the City of Indianapolis and the Indy Chamber are partnering to help entrepreneurs and small business owners purchase necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and other health and safety-related items or services.

 

Ready to Restart Grants will award from $200-$5,000 to businesses registered in Marion County of 150 employees or less based on reimbursements for purchases of PPE, dividers, hand sanitizer stations, washable restaurant menus, and more. 

 

Small business owners need to keep their receipts to be reimbursed by Ready to Restart Grants. A business can only apply once and grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be a private, for-profit business located and registered in Marion County with 150 employees or fewer

  • Must have a business start date prior to 2/15/2020

  • Must have purchased PPE, professional cleaning and disinfection services, and/or capital improvements as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and to comply with the State of Indiana and Marion County Public Health Department reopening guidelines between 5/1/2020 - 7/31/2020.

REIMBURSABLE USES

Grants are intended to ensure the safety of employees and customers. Therefore, allowable reimbursable expenditures are purposefully broad and follow these general categories:

  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks, face shields, gloves, hand sanitizer, and disinfectant products

  • Business adjustment-related expenses that arise from implementing return-to-work guidance from the State of Indiana or the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

  • Capital Improvements that include but are not limited to signage, air handling, partitioning for social distancing, improvements for safe queueing, and construction of health and safety improvements aimed at reducing the spread of infection.

If you have PPE expenses that do not fit in these categories, you will have an opportunity to justify and explain your purchases.

Start preparing your application.

Step 1. Collect your receipts. 

Collect your receipts for eligible expenses (see list above for reimbursable uses). If you are able, circle the expenses on each receipt you plan to claim. Receipts MUST be dated between 5/1/2020 and 7/31/2020, otherwise they are not eligible. If you submit an INVOICE, you must also submit proof of payment for that order (processed check, bank statement, etc.)

Step 2: Complete your reimbursement sheet.

Fill out our Ready to Restart Reimbursement Sheet to list your eligible expenses. You will need to complete this excel sheet to apply. 

Step 3. Apply

Complete your official application using your receipts and the completed reimbursement sheet from Step 2. You will also be asked to provide the following documents:

1. A color copy of the front and back of your Driver’s License or Goverment-issued ID

2. Your Secretary of State business registration, a bank statement, or a book of record to prove you were in business on February 15, 2020

3. Your Secretary of State Business Registration, a bank statement, or a book of record to show you have a Marion County business address
